One of a kind Abalone designs.
These designs cannot be duplicated because of the rarity of the abalone shell and in some cases the beads used in the design. They are unique in the world.
Our collection was discovered by The Smithsonian Institution and featured at the Smithsonian American Art Museum Renwick Gallery in Washington, D.C.
Fossil
Fossil
We call this "fossil" because the abalone kid (my husband) carved it from a very old piece of red abalone shell. This is a substantial piece of shell about 1/8 inch (.3 cm) thick and the tiny holes represent the work of sea worms for many many years. There are five beautiful shell drops that hang from the pendant.
Beads are subtle shades of sea foam green, gray and amethyst crystals and pearls, shades of ivory, gray and cocao pearls, natural Freshwater Pearls, Amethyst stones, antique pewter and various unique designer beads.
Length is 22 inches (55.9 cm) with a large filigree clasp and large silver cones.
